Two Gadgets In a Month!

As of today, I’m officially a Blackberry Curve 8520 user! Bought it at the Virgin Megastore for about Dhs 1150. Cheapest among other series.

Being the stingy person i am, spending two techy items within the same month is nutty!
Well, for a long while… It was SUPPOSE to be JUST the canon digicam.

BUT no thanks to my 3 year-old Nokia junkie, it nearly died on me 3 days straight! This frustration made up my mind to own a Blackberry. *wink*

Worn-out Faithful Nokia             To                               A BB

I’m such a newbie with this, reading manuals, tutorials online and what nots. Loving it (especially the chat applications) so far!

Soaked into the Blackberry world… Eek.

Dubai #111: Lingerie Sales

I didn’t think i’ll come home with shopping bags filled with lingerie today! My to-buy list (this weekend) was a new phone and jeans, not lingerie.

But instead I spent moonies on sexy lingeries/ sleepwear from La Senza and Womens Secret stores!
The sales was delish, that’s why… 12 items (various knickers/bras/nightgown) costs me about Dhs420, juicy buy!

Even I, Change, as I Get Older

As i notice my changes in behaviour, perspective in life and choices, i’m surprised at how situations/ challenges and age affects my overall wellbeing.

People change for better, worse or both. I, for instance, is for both. So what changes i’ve developed recently?

Worse #One: Lower tolerance/patience level with petty, especially extreme loud & talkative inconsiderate individuals (It doesn’t refer to ALL).
Better #Two: Away from work commitments little more JUST to spend time with husband.
Better #Three: Putting future family plans before career/ work.
Worse #Four: Splurging hard earned cash while/when i can.
Better #Five: Better self-discipline in my finances (Savings plan)
Better #Six: Praying for others.

Hmm, maybe i should improve the worse category…

Bah! I’m loving it!

Dubai #110: Bloomingdales In Dubai

The popular luxury Bloomingdales store launched last month (Jan 2010) in Dubai Mall. My first thoughts was to find time off work, splurge once and never return!

Lol. YET to happen…

Took this weekend to browse through the clothes, and i fell in love with a maxi dress! Love the interior too!
Clothing/ accessories prices ranges from Dhs500, that is why, IF i were to splurge thousands, it WILL be my first and last shopping spree in there *winks*

Don’t Guess, Just Ask!

I rather have strangers ask where/ which country i’m from, than assume/ claim that i’m Filipino!
Yesterday was my sixth encounter with the hairdresser, argh!
No offense to filipinos out there, but i find it annoying!
In UAE, filipinos takes up much of the Asian expat population, so even if you’re Singaporean, Malaysian, Chinese, or any other Asian countries, you’ll automatically be referred as a Filipino.

Most people are proud of their given nationality and race, me included, so i find it rude to be labelled not of my own kind.

It’s a small issue Elaine, get over it.

Dubai EatOuts #109: SCOOZI

The day started off lukewarmish with lots of sunshine, which led me the idea of an outdoor brunch to indulge some healthy dose of sunshine. We strolled through Dubai Mall and gave Scoozi restaurant a try (known for their Italian/ Jap menu).

A cappuccino, fruit punch, pasta and margerita pizza cost us about Dhs120, a reasonable place to enjoy the close up view of Burj Khalifah (World’s tallest skyscraper), tallest fountain and the lake.

Location: The Dubai Mall (LG level)

Dubai #108: Canon Ixus 100IS!

I finally bought a new camera, after much procrastination.
It only cost me Dhs899, below 1k was my budget. It was a luscious buy!
Blurry photos days are over!

Loving my new sleek gold digicam!

Dubai #107: Dubai Internet City

Now i can see why husband LOVES his current stress-free workplace.

Photos below says much! A lake, greenery (rarely exist at most workplaces), healthy trees, park-like pavements…
The serenity of it all, made ME envious! Him being exposed to greens & natural healthy air in comparison to my construction noise pollution and its surroundings… A huge contrast really.

I’m happy when he’s happy.

Dubai EatOuts #106: JIMMY’s PRAWNS

We hardly have much seafood meals here due to it’s expensiveness, but we found Jimmy’s Prawns not only for it’s generous portions but the prices were reasonable too.

                                      Outdoor view

                                            Mocktail

                        Seafood Platter with Rice

The platter includes mussels, prawns and squid. Yums!

What I’ve Been Up To?

One. I was spending minimal precious time with my husband.
Two. Work as usual, extreme demanding milestones/weekly timelines including 2 night shifts per week.
Three. Squeezing time for church service, when possible.
Four. Catching up on lost sleep (which i’m still losing).
Five. De-stressing with Super Mario Bros on my Nintendo DS.
Six. Focusing on my new pre-pregnancy diet plan.

Still enjoying the luxury bits, especially being debt-free for 2.5 years now!

Btw, i now take interest in parenting/ pregnancy magazines.

Time to ditch those fashion/shopping mags? Nah… Not just yet.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Gong Xi Gong Xi to those celebrating!!

This Chinese New year is my second time away from home missing out family reunions and chit chats. Sigh!
The first was when we landed in Dubai before CNY 2009, and second time round is due to a forced cancelled approved leave by my employer!

I am already missing the 8 dishes pre-CNY dinner at grandma’s, the joy of giving ang pows (red packets) and not forgetttng celebrating with my own precious parents & sis. CNY for us was always about feasting and visiting/ catching up with relatives.

We look forward to our next possible trip home!

Babies Everywhere

That’s what i’ve noticed here in Dubai… Families/ couples with babies/ toddlers/ strollers are everywhere, shopping malls, pedestrian walkways, supermarkets, public places, etc. Dubai seems to be a baby booming city, based on my observation that is.

Or is it that my ovaries are attracting such vibes to REMIND me that age is catching up and that baby planning should be my next focus.

Well… It’s still a thought, and i admit (after pondering for 2 years) i’m somewhat prepared for this new journey, no one and even i is ready for motherhood. So what do i mean by ready? It simply meant lesser hesitation with an upbeat sense of family commitment.
Though there are still some concerns, it won’t be an immediate NOW action plan.

Dubai #105: More shopping soon!

When i read the local papers about  Bloomingdales (luxury store in from NY) opening in Dubai Mall today, it sure made my toes glee! Because, i’ve been browsing their online store catalogue and fell temptation with their fashionable accessories/ totes and maxi dresses.
I’m rarely a dress person, but i couldn’t help thinking to maybe splurge this once and never head back again.

So, now it’s about WHEN i have the spare time to check this new store out.

Meantime, back to the warzone workload!

Cancelled CNY Trip

When my approved leave was frozen (by my employer) due to the FINAL stage of the project completion in end March, i couldn’t help but feel upset (til now) and went teary. The excitement and so much looking forward to the family reunion was diminished!

Well, nothing much one can do but to abide to the rules. I know mom will be utterly upset but she is getting her grips to be understanding and hopeful we’ll be back after March. I too hope.

Can’t wait for all this work dramas to be OVER soon!

Meanwhile, hubs and i are still enjoying the mini luxuries we get to do here.
